Are You Having Trouble Finding Balance?

You’re Not Alone, and I’m Here to Help!

“We Delight In The Beauty Of The Butterfly, But Rarely Admit The Changes It Has Gone Through To Achieve That Beauty.”

— Maya Angelou

How I Can Help You…

Working with a therapist is not a quick fix. Just like the metamorphosis that occurs in a chrysalis, it takes time. Moving through challenges resulting from trauma, negative patterns, or a life transition demands commitment and perseverance. It will also require a solid therapeutic relationship.

With an understanding of the importance of our therapeutic relationship, we can work together to identify your goals and provide a safe space for processing challenging emotions. You will be supported as you enhance self-awareness and incorporate effective tools into your everyday life.

The amount of time you’ll spend in your chrysalis cannot be predicted, and that’s okay. We are all at different points in development and all have various challenges to work through. But the caterpillar can’t stay a caterpillar forever. Instead, it puts in the effort to spin itself into a chrysalis to change, grow and transform. It takes work. It takes commitment. But when it comes time to emerge…

The result will be a stronger, more capable person who’s ready to fly.

Counseling Specialties — Who I Can Help

I provide individual counseling on a wide range of topics, including specialized counseling services in the following areas:

  • Counseling for women on all topics related to pregnancy and child-rearing including, but not limited to: prenatal concerns, childbirth, motherhood, post-partum depression, parenting, relationship difficulties during pregnancy, motherhood, child-rearing, birth trauma, grief, and more. Not only do I have background as a counselor working with clients on women’s issues related to child-bearing, but I also have 5 years of experience working as a doula, attending almost 200 births as a professional labor assistant.
  • Counseling for medical professionals, even more specifically people who have worked or currently work in hospitals. I have been working in a hospital since I was in graduate school. I understand the culture and the demands of hospital work because I too was on the front lines working in an inpatient psychiatric unit. Burnout syndrome and compassion fatigue are real!
  • Counseling for doulas, midwives, labor and delivery nurses, and other obstetric professionals. As rewarding as it is working with pregnant mothers, it can also be stressful—trust me, after attending almost 200 births, I know. As with other helping professions, caregiver burnout is common. This is especially true for professionals who have had to deal with birth traumas, and grieving parents. My training as a counselor coupled with my experience working as a doula for 5 years offers you the chance to work with someone who has gone through what you have and survived.
  • Counseling for Hoffman Process Graduates. I personally completed the Hoffman Process in 2002 while going through a divorce and it was life-changing. I continue to do Hoffman work myself, even as a licensed clinical social worker. I am familiar with and personally utilize the tools that the Hoffman Process teaches and welcome other graduates to my practice.
